Originally from Sydney, Bede is a talented marketing strategist who has worked in strategic sales, marketing, and events roles around the world.
Tasmania is fortunate to have a wealth of talented and experienced people among our ranks who bring their global and comprehensive experience to the state. Bede Clifton is one of these assets.
Originally from Sydney, Bede is a talented marketing strategist who has worked in strategic sales, marketing, and events roles around the world with a particular emphasis on the Asia Pacific region. This includes working for two of the world’s largest marketing and communications agencies, London based Imagination, which has offices in 14 countries; and George P Johnson, a premier marketing and event firm with 1 400 employees.
Bede’s career has seen him travel extensively working abroad in London, Shanghai and Singapore before returning to Sydney in 2010. It was in Sydney where the lives of Bede and his Tasmanian born wife Hayley, a qualified osteopath, started to move in a new direction with the arrival of their first son.
Coming from Tasmania, Hayley had first-hand experience of the family-friendly state and was keen to move back. While initially unsure about the idea, Bede tested the options online and was surprised to find a job opportunity that was a strong fit for his skills and experience.
Five years on Bede and Hayley are confident that they made the right move.
A change in lifestyle was a strong driver for the move, and the family-friendly state suits the Clifton family who now have three boys Hugo, Jasper and Charlie aged six years and under.
The move has also been positive for both Bede and Hayley professionally.

The couple’s love of international travel has also continued though they now prefer to undertake regular adventures as tourists, returning to Tasmania as their base.
The family are passionate about Tasmania and are keen to see it grow. This is clear from their professional pursuits, investments in the local business community, and in their engagement in their local community. This includes Bede’s role as a board member and committee Chairperson on the Launceston Chamber of Commerce, where he has an active role in supporting local businesses.
Tasmania is a special place, made even more so by its enterprising people.
If you’re looking for that special place to call home, Make it Tasmania.
