Tasmania is more than a place to holiday, it’s a lifestyle choice.

Tasmania has long been a popular tourist destination, attracting visitors from all over the world with its natural beauty, vibrant culture and relaxed lifestyle. Yet, Tasmania is more than just a great place for a holiday – it’s also a great place to live. The state has some of Australia’s most affordable housing, and offers short commutes, work life balance, family-friendly communities and business opportunities.

Migrating to another country can be a daunting task. Navigating visa processes can add to this complexity, however, the Tasmanian Government’s Migration Tasmania website provides easy to follow advice on how to apply for a state nominated skilled or business visa.

Family members of skilled migrants can also benefit from further streamlining of the application process, where there is an immediate family member already residing in the state and able to offer support in finding employment.

Another key group of skilled migrants that benefit from Tasmanian Government nominations are international students who graduate from the University of Tasmania. Graduates who fulfil the Department of Immigration and Border Protection requirements, can apply for Tasmanian Government nomination for permanent residence without including a job offer.

The Tasmanian Government’s support for international students through visa pathways recognises the benefits international students bring to Tasmania. This includes their contribution to the state’s cultural, language and culinary diversity, skills and training, and international connections.
