Tasmania’s glorious Tamar Valley is set to host the Farmgate Festival again this November

On the weekend of 24-25 November 2018, 15 farms in Tasmania’s stunning Tamar Valley will open their gates for the second annual Farmgate Festival. Visitors are invited to meet the farmers and producers, hear their stories and sample high quality produce – fresh from the field, paddock, hot house or river.

Tickets for the weekend self-drive tour are available for purchase on the Farmgate website, allowing access to any of the festival’s 15 farms across the weekend. Tickets are priced at $20 for a single day pass or $25 for a two day pass, with free entry for children under 15 years. Tickets will also be available at any farm on the festival weekend.

This year some of the farm tours will be prebooked, including Brady’s Lookout Cider, Petuna Seafoods and perfume workshops at Lavender House, with tickets available on the website.

Festivities will continue into the evenings, with two exclusive ticketed dinner events where local Tasmanian chefs will showcase the best of the region’s produce, much of which will be sourced from the participating farms.

On Friday 23 November, the festival will begin with Strathlynn Wine & Function Centre, located in the Ninth Island Vineyard, hosting a five course dinner with matching wine, where you can enjoy the spectacular views amidst white roses, vines and 100-year-old oak trees on the banks of the Tamar River. Diners will indulge in an array of seasonal, local and organic produce in a celebration of Tasmanian flavours.

The following evening, Saturday 24 November, there will be a lavish four course dinner and drinks at Velo Winery’s restaurant Timbre Kitchen in Legana. Led by mercurial chef Matt Adams and supported by passionate staff, diners will experience the very best of Tasmanian produce. Take in the tranquil surrounds whilst enjoying boutique wines and culinary delights – a grand conclusion to the festival.

Visit the Farmgate website for the full menu of events.
